Kicking of the Summer Activities

Now that school's out (for a WHOLE 9 weeks - yeah, don't get me started!) we've jumped full-on into the summer activities. Abby started indoor soccer a couple of weeks ago and she really enjoys it. At least until the end of class when they actually scrimmage - then she suddenly becomes too tired to run and likes to play goalie. We're not sure, but my theory is that she doesn't really understand that the point is to make a goal by kicking the ball into the net...

Jacob did basketball camp this last week and had a real blast hanging out with the high school kids and Coach Foster. He does a great job of really trying his best and playing as a team - he tends to pass as much as he tries to shoot during their scrimmages. I love that about him - he wants to win, so he passes to kids that he knows have skills. In the meantime, we'll keep practicing and eventually he'll be shooting just as well as those boys who obviously have older brothers...

This week they start swimming lessons, which are always a huge hit. I probably enjoy watching them as much as they like the swimming! It's HI-larious!! Loads of fun, while actually learning a thing or two. Gotta love that.

Later this month, Adam and I actually get to have a little fun of our own with a little weekend trip to Indy for our 2nd annual John Mayer concert. Then the following week is the big camping trip to Buckatabon for the week of the 4th. I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but our kids are the FOURTH generation to be going Up North (Wisconsin) for summer vacation. I went just a couple of months after I was born, as did Jacob and Abby. Ahhh, tradition.

After that, we have 2 more weeks of swimming lessons, a couple of weeks "off", a weekend of KEITH URBAN!!!! and then a long weekend in the Dells - yippee!! Less than two weeks after that, on the FIFTEENTH OF AUGUST, it's BACK TO SCHOOL (grumblings under my breath), with more than a month left of actual summer. Like I said, don't get me started. But Ryan Dvorak and Mitch Daniels, if I ever happen to pass you on the street, you're going to get an ear-full. Just warning you...
